If any of this soundless text makes sense (in the ironic context of music education), you'll have learned the following concepts in the past six weeks:
1. Basic major and minor chords, some open chords and some barre chords, with the possible exceptions of D minor, F minor, G minor, Bb minor, Bb major, and C minor. We might delve into diminished chords for some of the keys in future lessons.
2. Various time signatures: 4/4, 4/4 swing, 3/4, 6/8, and 5/4.
3. Basic root-fifth power chords: B5, C5, C#5, D5, Eb5, E5, F5, F#5, G5, G#5, A5, and Bb5.
4. The concept of the relative minor and the major/minor context of chord progressions.
5. The 12 bar blues.
6. The blues scale.
7. The circle of fifths.
8. Modes, or at least you are aware that the concept exists.
Stay tuned for the next six weeks, as we'll cover the keys of F#, Db, Ab, Eb, Bb, and F. Keep playing, keep practicing, and keep learning. If you need audio-visual aids for your journey, search Google and YouTube. We're currently working on enhancing Chord du Jour for future 12-week cycles.
